Founded in 2001, the original idea of this intercultural event was for the BIDASOA TXINGUDI CROSS-BORDER CONSORTIUM to organise a cross-border folk music festival with the support of Hondarribia, Irun and Hendaye councils.
With collaboration from all three councils and a great deal of effort a quality folk festival has been organised with free concerts attracting a varied audience of locals, outsiders, young and old, folk-lovers and the inquisitive.
The festival promotes the Bidasoa Txingudi district as a cultural hub where music and traditions from different countries can be showcased at the same time as highlighting the cultural diversity existing in the territory … one of the reasons why BidasoaFolk is held here.
